I often see people with engagement rings that do not allow for the wedding ring they desire. With every engagement ring I make, the planning for the wedding is included in the price.
Even if you do not purchase the wedding ring from me the planning will be done and you will avoid the disappointment of the wedding ring you want not suiting your engagement ring.

How do you plan for a wedding ring with a surprise proposal?
Another service included in all quotes I give you is the proposal ring. Above is a proposal ring I made in 2017 which I will use as an example.
This service included in the price allows the proposal to take place and then afterwards for the ring to be remade to the perfect finger size free of charge.
Also if changes made to suit the desired wedding ring do not require additional materials it is done at the same time free of charge.

After this proposal the couple thought for quite some time about the wedding ring design. Knowing that we were going to remake the ring to the correct size I resized the proposal ring free of charge to allow her to wear it whilst she considered her wedding ring design.
One year later with the desired wedding ring design decided and the quote accepted I remade the proposal to allow the wedding ring to sit perfectly next to it at no extra cost.
The head of the engagement ring needed to be raised ever so slightly and the bands made a little deeper to take the diamond size she desired in the wedding ring. This is the beauty of the Proposal ring.
What if I want my partner to change the design after the proposal?
For cases like this most choose a standard design like the ring above for the proposal. After the proposal the couple design the ring together with me and I re-quote on any additional costs.
For most rings the main value is in the feature gemstone and small additional gems and design changes are much lesser costs. However this couple always knew that she would make some drastic changes and that I would quote before they committed to anything.
The remade proposal ring is shown above made to her exact finger size. You can read about the design process that lead to the making of this ring in this article. This design has a very small tolerance for resizing which leads me to the next point.
Resizing your new ring is not a good idea
A jewellery chain destroyed this ring when they resized it beyond it limits to close a sale. I had to totally remake it.
It is industry standard practise to resize almost any ring to get a sale. No matter how well resizing is done it will to some extent damage the ring.
If you think you can get the finger size right without the recipient being measured properly then from my experience the chances of that are very low.
